What is a DEFRA Type Approved Incinerator?
For an incinerator to be used legally within the UK it must be listed in the ‘Approved ABP Incinerator List’. If you’re only incinerating animal by-products (ABPs) and not a mix of ABPs and other materials, you must get Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) approval. All models supplied in the UK meet or exceed the animal by products regulation set out by DEFRA. Please check details in your own region for any variations For example to comply with the EU you must make sure they meet the ‘ec no 142/2011’ directive. All our models are highly efficient with a broad range of burn rates depending on the application.
Mobile Animal Incinerator
In many circumstances our mobile incinerators allow for rapid disposal of infected animals over a wide area with a reduction in the cross contamination risk. Most of our medium to large models can have optional heat exchangers added (that provide the ability to generate heat or hot water from your waste).
All low capacity incinerators we provide for animal waste come with a larger secondary chamber – this has been specifically designed to ensure required temperatures and residency times are met. Many of our smaller model incinerators are DEFRA type approved – meaning that obtaining the relevant permits is that little bit easier.
